Inserting a Symbol
1.
Type in the following “Microsoft”
2.
Place your cursor to the right of the t in Microsoft
3. Insert a Symbol
• Click Insert on the Menu Bar.
• Point to Symbol. (Now look all the way to your
right at the drop down menu under symbol.)
• Click on ®.
• Click on Insert.
• Click on Close.
5. Bold, Center, and change the Font Size to 14 (Don’t forget to turn this off for the rest of your document. (
You can take a shortcut by clicking on the Home tab and going all of the way to
the right side of your ribbon to Select à Select All)
6. Be certain that Show/Hide is
turned on
7. Push Enter four times
5. Type in the following paragraphs
Bill Gates’ infatuation with
computers started at the age of thirteen when his mother’s club installed a
terminal and purchased computer time for the students. This was a very
important decision in his life and can actually be determined the focal point
for his interest in computer technology.
The first computer that he had
access to had no monitor and was extremely slow according to our current
standards, but intriguing and challenging to Gates and his friends. This was a
machine that he could control and get immediate results from, telling if the
commands he had given to it were correct within a short time. According to
Gates, he still gets a thrill knowing that if he can get the program right it
will always work perfectly, every time, just as he told it.

Copy
and Paste
1. Select the first paragraph using your mouse.
2.
Right click on the area you have selected and click on “copy”.
3.
Pull your mouse down to the bottom of this document. Right click after the
second paragraph and paste.
7.
Place
your flashing cursor in front of the word “The” at the beginning of the
paragraph and click on the Insert tab. Go over to the text section on the right
and click on the drop down menu on the Drop Cap. Select the “Dropped” option.
8.
Place
your name in the header and Print.
9.
Save
this document with your name on the file and header into Common Drive (Z:) --> 10th Grade -> Word Lesson 3 file as well.
